LINE UP OF BANDS
European Brass Band Championships 2024, Palanga
The European Brass Band Association is pleased to announce the line-up of bands for the 45th European Brass Band Championships in association with World of Brass. A total of 23 bands will take part in this year championships, which for the first time is arranged in Lithuania.
In the Championship section we find 12 bands. Defending champions Brass Band Treize Étoiles will be joined by Brassband Bürgermusik Luzern from Switzerland. Brighouse and Rastrick band will represent England, and from Wales Tredegar Band will take the stage in Palanga Concert Hall. The Scandinavian countries will be represented with Göta Brass Band from Sweden, Concord Brass Band from Denmark, and Eikanger-Bjørsvik Musikklag from Norway.
Given a line-up that also includes Brass Band Oberösterreich, 3BA Concert Band, Hauts-de-France Brass Band, Brass Band Schoonhoven and Brass Band Willebroek it promises to be an exciting, high quality championship section.
This year we find three bands in the Challenge section. Brass Band Wipptal from Italy, 1st Old Boys Silver Band from Northern Ireland and Brass LT have all participated in previous championships.
Since it was established ten years ago in 2014 at Perth, Scotland, the European Youth Brass Band Contest is an established part of the European Brass Band Championships. This year’s edition will have the total of 8 bands. Defending champion in the Development Section, Smørås Skolemusikk (Norway), will be joined by Ytrebygda Skolekorps (Norway) and they will compete against Brass Band Aukštyn (Lithuania) and Youth Brass 2000 (England). In the Premier section we find two universities bands: From Italy, Brass Band del Conservatorio di Musica ‘N. Piccinni’ BARI and from England The University of Chichester
Brass Band. These will be joined by Brass Band Sklepučini from Lithuania and Seindorf Ieuenctid Beaumaris from Wales.
This means that our Lithuanian host will have three participating bands in the championships.
